My name is Tanja. I don't think I know any woman who doesn't like jewellery. Little ladies, like my two daughters Kaya and Sanne, are particularly fond of everything that shines and twinkles. My jewellery box gets raided on a daily basis because they want to look just like mum
Once, my daughter Kaya wanted the same bracelet as mum to go to a party. "This way everyone can see that we belong together", were her words. Of course I wanted to fulfil her wish, but a jewellery set like that was just nowhere to be found!
A big step...my own company
So to make my dream come true, I quit my job in 2012 and wrote a business plan. I wanted to create a jewellery company that caters to mothers with daughters, and then I also wanted to give something back to underpriviledged children. So I started to design jewellery, bought some labels, designed a website and launched...
To develop an affordable brand of children's jewellery. Not made of plastic or wood, but jewellery made from genuine materials like precious stones, crystals and freshwater pearls. With matching mum jewellery, so you can celebrate all special occasions in your daughters life (birth, baptism, communion, her first birthday or her being a flowergirl or bridesmaid) together with her, symbolically united.
I know this might sound like a Miss Universe beauty contest, but after having worked for a multinational company for 10 years, I wanted to give something back
. I came into contact with Eduki, the Education for Kids Foundation, who make sure that underpriviledged children in Gambia can go to school. A perfect match! That's why I donate part of my profit to give children in Gambia the chance to go to school. So far I sponsor 10 children. When they get the chance to go to school, they better not just themselves, but their entire community.
I know setting up a business in jewellery will not be easy with thousands of other jewellery webshops around, but some dreams do come true and I think I can make a difference!
